Just beginning to think about what to write on the about page was in itself a giant task. The main purpose of the page is to usually tell the reader why they should spend their time to actively follow this blog, which is the sole purpose of the about page.
“Time is really the only capital that any human being has. The only thing he can’t afford to lose.“- Thomas Edison
“What you see is news, what you know is background, what you feel is opinion.“- Lester Markel, American journalist, 1894-1977
Before this blog was launched I was always asked what I was going to blog about. The simple answer to that is, I frankly don’t know. Limiting the blog to one topic would be to deny you, the reader, the ability to gain insight into thought-provoking idea’s. Depending on what section you click on you could be immersed into the world of technology, sports, pop culture, or entertainment. This isn’t your typical commercialized source of news, it is a site where you the reader are able to engage and give your own opinions on certain manners. The fact of the matter is that this blog is not about me writing about my day or how I feel but to gather a talented group of people to showcase their ideas and have them be able to talk about experiences or give opinions on certain ideas from which the reader is able to further analyze and find the deeper meaning of the articles. In addition to the main blog there will be more fresh ideas waiting to spew from The Data Complex, where we (see below) will help you uncover the paradigm of entertainment. There is not much more to say……but hopefully YOU will find that this blog is not a waste of your capital.
Zia Mohammad- firstname.lastname@example.org Surely you must have not forgotten that I had to talk about myself on the about page. I am a current student going into my sophomore year at The Ohio State University (Take pride in the “The”) studying Electrical Engineering and Neuroscience (That’s right, engineers can have blogs too). I plan to go to grad school for Biomedical Engineering to pursue a career in Neural Engineering or similar fields. I have a passion for all types of music (except for country) and to an extent rap but I am mainly into pop, classic rock, and well just about anything… In my free time I can be found either watching Doctor Who or just about any other SyFy/mystery show(Sherlock, FRINGE, Once Upon a Time, Star Trek, the list goes on). Other than that I have recently found an interest in rock climbing, numerical cardinality, and trying to defy the laws of physics (ya know just the usual).
Hussanaine “Ali” Shah- email@example.com Hey folks! It is I, your sports blogger extraordinaire (sarcasm). Well, I guess I should tell you a little bit about me. Yours truly will be entering his freshman year at The Cleveland State University (No real emphasis on the “The” here) and will be majoring in either Occupational Therapy or Pharmaceutical Sciences. My hobbies include Sports, of course, particularly basketball, video games, and my favorite, hanging out with my wonderful friends and spending time with my exuberant family. I enjoy most music, especially rap by my favorite rapper, Jay-Z. I’d have to say SportsCenter is the show I watch most but do enjoy other series such as Breaking Bad and The Following. It doesn’t come as a shock that I love to talk about sports. And finally, my objective in life is to find a way to change the world for the better and find true inner peace within myself.
Sam Yun – firstname.lastname@example.org Howdy all, this is the Amazin’ Asian himself, Samuel Soomin Yun. I will be joining the ranks of the Class of 2017 at THE Ohio State University, studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. I plan on getting my Doctorate at some point (Dr. Yun, I shall be called). I hope to find a career at a major tech company such as Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, or a plethora of others, the Department of Defense (DARPA) or NASA, or even start my own company. My passion is computers, pure and simple. I regularly frequent tech blogs and forums, learn how to program, build computers and servers, research networking technologies and try out various Linux builds. When I’m not sitting in front of my computer, I can be listening to music (dubstep, pop, rap, rock, pretty much anything with a solid beat and is not country), playing the drums, or trolling. On the rare occasion I watch TV, I enjoy Breaking Bad, Big Bang Theory, NCIS, or Doctor Who. I also have an interest in the Classics, specifically Latin, and I am a member of the Ohio Senior Classical League.
Samiah (Sa·mee·uh) Shakir – email@example.com
Hey there! My name is Samiah and I’m a junior at The Ohio State University (OSU) studying Pharmaceutical Sciences. Although I spend a great deal of my time mastering my craft of learning how to make purified crystal meth (juust kidding–the most exciting thing that’s happened to me is a trash can on fire next to me in Orgo lab), I have an array of diverse interests and hobbies that make me question my major and my life (normal 20-year-old existential crisis kind of stuff). I’ve always loved to write, whether dishing about my day in a witty 140 characters on Twitter or writing essays for class it’s been a passion of mine from a young age. Another passion of mine that’s been cultivated for about eight years now is French language and culture. It’s been a dream of mine to study abroad in France ever since high school and I am currently planning on minoring in French Culture/Film and working on making that happen! Aside from studying drugs and being keen on languages, I also love to read, work out, listen to music (follow me on Spotify if you’re interested!), laugh at cat memes, quote Mean Girls and peruse urbanoutfitters.com daily, and somehow maintain a persona of being moderately well-dressed or as I’ve been called “indie.” So, you may be thinking “Okay, you study drugs, love English and French, like to work out and read and listen to music and keep up with trends, what on Earth are you going to blog about??” Yeah, I have no clue–it’ll probably be a melange of recipes, fashion tips, current events, and whatever else happens to be on this 20-year-old’s mind at the moment! Bear with me & hope you enjoy! If I’ve kept your attention thus far (bravo to you!), check me out in the Lifestyles section.
Sean Lowe – Twitter.com/SeanCLE, SeanFLowe@gmail.com
Hello all! Just an FYI, I’m not the Sean Lowe from ABC’s The Bachelor season 17, I’m much better looking! In all seriousness, I’m a simple shy guy who is in his senior year at Westlake High School in Westlake, OH. Most of my free time is spent on Twitter and listening to “Sports Radio 92.3 The Fan” here in Cleveland. I grew up in sports crazy house, so I root for all the Cleveland teams and get my heart broken every season. I’m also a political junkie who watches too much MSNBC, so that probably tells you which side of the aisle I’m sitting on. Currently I’m the President of The Westlake High Broadcasting System, (WHBS-TV) which is a student run and faculty advised television station at Westlake High School that serves Westlake, OH. I look forward to studying Broadcast Journalism at Kent State University beginning in the fall of 2014. That’s all I got! GO BROWNS!!
Rachel Huntley- Facebook.com/rachel.huntley.10, firstname.lastname@example.org Hello! I’m a first year at The Ohio State University who has a focus on learning and teaching. In four years, God willing, I will be an Early Childhood Educator with a minor in Globalization Studies! After visiting Egypt and Germany my mindset shifted into wanting to see the rest of the world. Now, traveling and children both weigh heavy on my heart- I can’t wait to have a family of my own while accomplishing my dreams and living the daily grind. When I’m not listening to the Dave Matthews Band or doing homework I love to spend time with my friends and family. My youngest brother, Samuel, who just turned eight, keeps me smiling and inspired. We’re from Berlin Heights, Ohio which is a small town in Northern Ohio. We try to support the Browns and the Indians while of course rooting for OSU. Watching CNN, browsing “teacher blogs,” and catching up with Al Jazeera keeps me interested and motivated. I look forward to hearing from you and adding to the online conversation!
